Who are we?
BIMnet brings together key players in the market, facilitating learning through our speakers, and helping individuals and companies generate mutual opportunities. BIM is changing the landscape of the construction industry at an ever increasing rate. Its adoption involves inherently different ways of working and conceptualising projects by all those involved in the process. We are beginning to see BIM being used across all phases of a project: from early concept design, the production and management of construction information, through to O&M manuals and end-user facilities management. As adoption has increased, so has the perceived scope of what can be achieved in an BIM environment.
2016 will see the UK government BIM mandate requiring all centrally procured public projects to be delivered to BIM Level 2. The 2016 Level 2 Compliance requirement will mean all of the design and construction supply chain must deliver their aspects of project responsibility using processes and technologies in line with Employers Information Requirements (EIRs). Furthermore the government client wants to see a significant improvement in cost, value and carbon performance being achieved through the use of open sharable asset information enabled with collaborative ways of work throughout the entire project and asset life-cycle.
BIMnet will be hosting 5 events this year as part of the 2016 countdown. The events will focus on the following topics to bring together these thoughts and requirements for Level 2 and 2016:

BIM: The UK Government Task Update
David Philp, Head of BIM Implementation, Cabinet Office
"The Government mandate will help drive adoption
However, this 'pull' is being equally met by an industry 'push'. We have the perfect storm for BIM in the UK and I am confident that we will not miss this opportunity for reform and to reset our construction default."
BIM Programme Director at Balfour Beatty and Head of BIM Implementation at the Cabinet Office
